TE WHARAU SETTLER FINED,

In the Magistrate's Court at Carterton on Wednesday, before Mr L. G. Reid, S.M., Donald Douglas, of Land's End, Te Wharau, was charged with failing to take efficient steps to destroy the rabbits on his property. / Stock Inspector WeJbb prosecuted, and Mr C. A. Pownall defended. After hearing lengthy evidence, his Worship said it was evidently not a. case for a heavy penalty, as the defendant appeared to have done something, fine 1 of £1 and costs would be imposed. A similar charge: preferred against Eli Liddington was dismissed, the fr defence being raised that defendant ■ was not the owner or occupier of the land at the time the information was raised.
