A Democratic caucus of the Lower House decided to pass the Reciprocity Bill first,' and later pp.ss a Bill amending the tr riff so that fanners' necessities would be placed on the free list, and the Reciprocity Bill would bo unaltered. The Associated Pre.~s published an inspired announcement to the effect that an European Government, the name of which was not given, had raised the question whether Canada's benefits under reciprocity would be extended to other rountries in accordance with the Favoured Nation Clause.
