MASTERTON AND MINISTERS.
The reception accorded tne Minister for Works in Masterton yesterday was in .striking contrast to that extended him in Pongaroa and Weber. In the latter plaice they had requests to make, and treated the Minister with the dignity and respect due to a representative of the Crown. The people of Masterton, however, allowed the Hon. It. McKenzie to dtump himself down upon a hotel verandah, moon around in quiet and solitude, and practically fish for himself. The deputation which waited upon him was so small in numbers that, had it not been far a stray politician or two who conveniently dropped in, it would have been insignificant. The whole turn-out was a comparative farce. If Masterton wishes to secm-e favours from the Government, it will require to treat Ministers with just a little more respect and decency 'i than it did the Hon. R. McKenzie.
