PRISONER JUMPS FROM TRAIN.
INYERCAKG . -u, Last Night. A prisoner, named Josepli Christie, 17 years of age, who was recently sentenced to a term of imprisonment by the Supreme Court in Dunedin for breaking and entering and theft, jumped from this afternoon's express when passing Woodlands. This prisoner and another who is serving five years, were in charge of Principal Warder Kearney, who allowed Christie, at his request, to go to the lavatory, but instead of doing so the prisoner opened the door of the carriage and jumped out. It is stated that he landed on his feet and made off. No time was lost- by the prison authorities on being acquainted with th' 3 escape in taking steps to effect his re-eapture, . and motor cars were employed to reach the scene without delay. Christie has escaped no less than four times from Burnham Industrial School. So far there lias been no news of his capture.
