KILLING OF A POLITICAL AGENT.
TROOPS BEING MOBILISED

CALCUTTA, April 10,
It transpires that Mr Noel \\ iiuumson, tho British political officer who, with his party was murdered at Sadjya, Assam, by tribesmen, had recently ordered the Abavs, an independent tribe in the North of Lukhimpur district, to relinquish to the Miri tribesmen certain forests which they had seized, and return to the hills The massacre has caused intense excitement in Upper Assam. It is believed it will have a most harmful effect upon the Dofflas and other tribes. Light horses and volunteers in the Assam Valley are mobilising. Twelve hundred troops aro assembling at Sadiya.
