The French Minister for Foreign Affairs (M. Cruppi), epeaking _ in the Senate, said that if the situation at Fez becamo difficult, the French Government would take necessary measures within the provisions of the Algeciras Act to ensure the security of Europeans there.
MUTUAL AND EFFICIENT SUPPORT.

MADRID. April 9
Senor Garcia Prieto, Spanish Minister for Foreign Affairs, stated in the Senate that Spain and France had offered each other mutual and efficient support in Morocco. Senor Canalejas. the Premier, in tlio Chamber of Deputies, said that France had intimated that the time had come to make preparations in anticipation of events in Morocco. The Spanish Government would take all requisite measuivs with regard to Spanish, possessions and wherever Spanish instructors were stationed.
ATTACK UPON FEZ
TRIBESMEN DRIVEN TO TLAINS

TANGIER, April 10
Tin •ee hundred Berbers, who unsuccessfully attacked the south-eastern walls of Fez. retired, skirting the southern hills. They renewed the attack in the afternoon near the Sultan's palace, 011 the south-west of the , town, well within range of the artillery, which, under Colonel Mangin, maintained, a heavy cross fire, driving the tribesmen on to the plains to the westward. 1
