TYPHOID FEVER.

The outbreak of typhoid fever at the Porirua Mental Hospital has led to the advancing of a remarkable theory for tlio spread of the Infectious germs of this disease. It is asserted that people who have suffered from this disease are capable of disseminating the germs years after they have themselves recovered. In proof of this, it is allged that there is at present isolated in Melbourne a man who is apparently healthy, but who •has been known to disseminate the disease by contact. A similar case is recorded from Germany, where, a woman who had charge of a shop di ftributed the disease wholesale. Although the theory of subsequent contact may not be commonly accepted, it has 'been supported by such evidence as to warrant investigation by the 'most eminent medical scientists.
