TO REPAIR A LOSS.

Mr W. D; Lysnar has made the discovery that a deduction of 3d per carcase is made on every carcase of mutton which reaches the Old Country. This deduction has been known to the freezing companies for years. Mr Lysnar is wrong in assuming, however, that freight and insurance is paid on the full-weight carcase. As a matter of fact, the deduction is made at this end. The custom applies to wool as well as to frozen meat. The loss may be considerable; but the merchants at the other end state that if the deduction is not made, the price of meat will be reduced proportionately. So that it is as broad as it is long.
