KUNS AMOK IN ROME.

WAITING TO SHOOT THE POPE

(Received Last Night, 10.45 o'clock.) ROME, April 5. An Austrian named Desante, fired a revolver at a group of priests in tho Basilica, in St. Peters' Cathedral. A policeman was wounded. Desante states that he had been imprisoned for a long term in connection with two murders he was alleged to have committed. He says he has been in Rome since August, awaiting an opportunity to shoot the Pope. Desante is believed to be insane. It will be necessary to re-consecrate the Basilica.
