DAMAGE IN QUEENSLAND.
CANE CROPS SUFFER
(Received April 4, 1U a7m.) BRISBANE, April 4. The floods in the Ingham district are the highest for years. The river has encroached on the main street. One store has been overturned, and considerable other damage has been done to property. The cane crops suffered severely. Vehicle traffic has been cut off. The waters are receding. Halifax, on the Lower Herbert River, reports that 75 per cent, of the cane has been damaged-or destroyed. Serious damage in other districts is also reported. Railway and telegraphic communication has been' disorganised, and several bridges washed away. THE FLOODS SUBSIDING. Received This Morning, 12.5 o'clock. BRISBANE, April 4. The flood waters are subsiding. A large quantity of timber has been deposited on the canefiekls. The details are meagre.
