HALF-YEARLY SOCIAL. The Hope of Masterton Juvenile Temple held its half;, rarly social on Friday evening. The chah - w:is tai:en by Mrs'Ewart Anderson, who opened the meeting with an interesting address to the l.oys atvl <;jrls. Th 3 {-.allowing items were contributed: —Over-, ture, Miss L. Green; duet, "Daddy," Misses L. Andrews and I. Duffy (encorfed);'feqitation:, Miss L; Gourlay; song, .'^Primroses,'' Miss: Andersdti;'' recitation, Miss Iris Duffy; Isohg, "Child-s ren's Voices," Mrs E. Anderson; recitation, Miss Gladys Butcher; recitation, Miss Gertie Morris. Mrs Green then presented prizes to the following—lst prize for essay, Harold Miller; obtaining most members, Miss Olive Andrew ; good attendance, Gladys Butcher, Louie Gourlay, Archie Lea and Roy Gourlay. After the presentation of prizes the following took part in a dialogue, entitled, "Wanted, a Coachman" : char-acters—-"Dr Cureall," L. Gourlay; "Mary the Housemaid," Iris Duffy; "Dick, Pat and Johan," Harold Miller. R. Tyache, and Archie Lea. The winner of the book-guessing competition was Mr C. Anderson. Short addresses were given'by Messrs Gilbert and Anderson, and Mesdames Green and Miller. A hearty vote of thanks was accorded Mrs Anderson for carrying out •the duties of chairman, to those who donated prizes, and also to those ladies who assisted in providing an excellent supper. Special praise is due to Sisters Miller and Flanagan for their efforts,in • assisting to make the function so successful. " v ■ _ A song by Mr Fitzgerald and a recitation by Miss Eiola Andrew, concluded a very pleasant evening.
