DROUGHT BROKEN.
TIMARU, Last Night. The drought has broken, but not half an inch of rain has fallen yes. Mr \V. Talbot, chairman cf the Farmers' Union, said yesterday that Lhe.past month had been disastrous ro the pastoral industry. The turnip -crop has almost wholly failed ou the low country, and grass is very short. -The wheat;..yield . had been good, but if the.returns of the tt.t-il are correct, there will not be mn<-h surplus for export.
