NEW PARLIAMENT BUILDINGS.

CHRISTCHURCH, Last / Night. a deputation of architects waited on the Hon. R. McKenzie regarding the condition for the competition in designs for the new Parliament Buildings. They asked that in the competition the conditions of the Institute of British Architects be the basis of the Government's conditions, and' that as at first an assessor or assessors be appointed. The Minister said the Government did not intend vo consult the British Institute about whichthey were not concerned. They would not appoint assessors until the designs were received. A man was to be brought from outside to make the award, and the Government did not intend to bring him till the designs were in. „

The competitors would have to design the rooms in accordance with the total amount allowed for the building. An allowance would require to be made in the Chamber for 150 members.
