C. Cooper, Chairman of Directors, .V a very appropriate speech stated j. that he hoped that the evening >vas I the beginning of a successful series' of annual gatherings. He ilso spoke of the goc*T qiialities of the J Company's employees, who, 'he \ thought, were a most creditable | body of men. In conclusion he i wished all present a most enjoyable ■ evening. ' ■ . During.an interval between the dances, %h& following items were • contributed:—Songs: Mrs Smith* Messrs Nicholson, Wilson,Prouse and Fanning.

! The floor was in J>erfect order, and dancing was indulged in until the early hours of the morning. The music was capably rendered by Mr Cook (piano), Mr Crawley (cornet), and Miss "Mansfield (violin). Mr , Nicholson and Mr,"Wiisoii acted' as JMl'sG.

'Much credit is due to Mr Parker, (chairman), Mr -:.- Smith (secretary) and Mil energetic working committee who left no stone unturned to make the gathering a success. The splendid supper was provided by Mrs Whyte, of Carterton, whilst Mr B. Brodie, of Mastcrton, supplied the soft drinks.
