A meeting was held . here .this afternoon, to consider the question of' the ."advisability- of : establishing meat freezing works on the- West Coast. • . ~-,J;-'^V.. The general, project "footed was to acqiirre the plants, oi the National Agency, and Company r at Longbum; and < Banks Meat Company at NgahMrang'a, and run them together. Reiiresentatives of the Banks Company were present, and they stated that the plant could be made up-to-date • for a ' sum of about £15,000. • "'■'.■"'■.' After a good deal of discussion, it was decided to abandon the idea of establishing works here, owing to msufficierit -supoprt, .arid to acquire 'the Banks plant:; for • ;£IO,OOQ, of which =£sooo.'. is mortgage and the other £SOOO .would .be taken; up > :in fully paid up shares by the debenture holders of the.' Durin gthe discussion ihe promoters of the Wellington scheme drew particular attention to the support that they have been promised, and hoped to get from: the Wairarapa, particularly the botom end. One of the speakers stated that he knew of a 'large shareholder of the Waingawa Company who would be only too glad to find a buyer for his shares in that Company, as it did not meet the needs of those of a majority of the people in that part of the Valley.
