AMUSEMENTS.
THOMPSON-PAYNE PICTURES.
Few programmes, screened . during the past could compare for general excellence with the new series introduced at the Foresters' Hall last evening by Messrs Thompson and / Payne. Every seat in the house was occupied, and late comers had to be content with standing room. The ■frequent applause gave evidence of the hearty appreciation df the items submitted. Tbe dramas are plenti-'. ful and original in character, the "star" film being "A. Life for a Life," file" story, of which is woven round a convict whose bravery is , notable in a great and realistic tire ■ scene., A. sensational cowboy study is found in "The Girls of the Range, 1 * while. "The Heart of An Actress" is a pretty love story of life on and off the stage. "The Smoked Husband" was an excellent American Bio. Company comedy. : The scenics and comics were really good, and the programme contained other attractive items. For pictorial excellence the bill-of-fare would be difficult to beat. The pictures will be shown..again, to-night.
