MEETING OF MANAGEMENT COMMITTEE.

The Dannevirke stib-ttnion forwarded, an appeal against the decision: of the Hawke'sßay Union iii removing a disqualification imposed by the subunion. It was decided that, as the appeal, had not been lodged witliin the stipulated period, the committee could not consider it.
The Festival, of Empire sports committee wrotfe, asking the union to give the committee some assistance iii raising funds for the purpose of having New Zealand represented at the Festival of : Empire sports. The amount required, ,it was stated, was at least £2OO. It was decided to donate £5 os.
- - The Secretary of the English Asso-: ciation wrote as follows ./.r- 1 ' 'Your letter re Maori team has been, placed before my union, and we are glad to learn of their loyalty to the amateur code, and the success of their, repenttour in Australia/ My committee, however; do not feel able to: arrange for them to tour this country." It was decided to inform the Maori team accordingly. 1 '
In response to a letter written by the New Zealand Union in October last in reference to the local alteration of law 12, dealing with a ball intouch, the secretary of the English Rugby Un ; on wrote stating thafi his committee recommended that in the event of a ball not alighting at right angles five yards from the touch line, a scrimmage should be formed 'ten yards out. It was decided to adopt' the'recommendations and advise Unions and ref- . erees to this effect. V ,
"It is going to lead) to 'pointing 1 ; and all sorts of 'funny business/J'remarked one member of the Committee. ■ . '
An' application was received, urging that a separate selector be appointed to look after the Nelson, Marlborough, West Coast and Buller Unions, instead of three' selectors for the whole of the South Island, as at present. The matter was referred to the incoming Committee.
