EVIDENCE OF ACCUSE!!.

EISMOND KILLED IN SELF- ' DEFENCE.

SYDNEY, March 23

Senkoviteh, who is being tried on a charge of murder, entered the box and gave his version of the killing o- Eismond. He said that up to the time they camped at Bourke Bourke they were good friends. On the night of the tragedy lie was awakened to find Eismond attacking him. He held him round the neck, nearly choking him. Senkoviteh seized' an axe and swung it blindly. He hit Eismoiid several times until he fell.. Senkoviteh ran away, i and when he came bafck he i'dund Eismond dead. He wrapped the body in a tent and Hung it into the river, and then went back to Bourke. He denied killing Eismond for Ids money. He took the money because it partly belonged to him, and because, he wanted to get back to Russia. It was of no use ior a dead man. He. was frightened to tell the police his story. He thought that, this being an English counti-y, no one would help him, because of the illrfeeling against.Rus.sia.
