NORTH WAIRARAPA BENEVOLENT SOCIETY.

MONTHLY MEETING

The North Wairarapa Benevolent Society held its monthly meeting yesterday morning, there being present,—Messrs J. B. Keith (chairman),, W. Fisher, J.O. Ewington, H J. O'Leary, W., Morris, and Mrs Cairns.

The treasurer's report showed the balance from last month £129 10s 2d, receipts for the month £203 7s Bd, making a total of £332 17s lOd, expenditure £144 14s 7d, leaving a balance at elate of £IBB 3s 3d.

~ The pay sheet for the mouth in respect of cka :Yiable aid, amounting to £3O 11>j, -and Renal! Solway Home £l7 Bs, amounting in ail to £47 19s, was' passed for payment.

j, The lis! of recipients of charita-blo, aid was considered in detail, and the .secretary was instructed as to the

.action to. be taken, in regard to certain cases.

The matter of the installation of a second \bath at the Solway-Home came up for discussion, as the outcome, of a lefcten from the Hospital and Charitable Aid Board defining the powers of committees in reference to extraordinary expenditure, and it was decided to proceed: with the addition of a second bath at a cost not exceeding .-£lO, 'Messrs Ewington and O'Leary being appointed a sub-committee to supervise the carrying out of the work. Mr O'Leary, visiting, member,; reported having visited the Solway Home, and stated that the gravelling authorised at last meeting had not'yet been completed owing to the difficulty experienced in procuring, suitable material.

The estimates for the ensuing year were considered in detail, and will be submitted for consideration at the next meeting of the Hospital Board.

The visiting member for the ensuing month is Mr J. C. Ewington.
