SHOOTING INCIDENT.
MAN COMMITTED FOR TRIAL

NAPIER, Last Night
At the Magistrate's • Court this morning, a young man, named 3. Young Hannay, was charged with having tired a sh.ott,guii at three others— Robert'; Colquhouh, John Miller audi Fred Johnson; and was committed for. trial to the Supreme Court, bail being allowed. '
The , evidence showed that a, quarrel took.place in one of the main streetsoorn r .the evening of the 13th inst., and that the three prosecutors afterwards followed accused to .his home, for, the purpose, they stated, of demanding an apology. Accused went into his house, and brought out a shot-gam, and discharged' both barrels at the" other three, who then turned! in. full -, retreit, thjnking that Hanniiy 'has brought some friends 'to'.Jtfg "assistance. Colquhoua was struck by two pellets of snot,- but was only sligh%. injured. Hannay says he' merely fired to scare the others, and when he thought they were at a safe distance.
