March 19. < A wire from Port Douglas, a seaport forty miles from Cairns, states that a terrific cyclone occurred on the 16th inst.

Practically every building in . the 'town was levelled..

Two fatalities ,are reported. One hundred persons are home'less. The-wire asks that relief be sent. ■
