Mr Harry McManaway, the wellknown horse-owner, one time of Ekecahuna, has taken over Hastie's Hotel in Feilding. . Dr. is a brother of Mr J'ames Ewart, of Masterton, is lying seriously ill at his residence in Wellington. Mr John Smith, who is one of the oldest Councillors of the City of Wellington, is at present on a visit to his friends in Masterton.
Mr J. Duncan, assistant director of fields and experimental farms, is at present a visitor to Masterton. ■ Mr T. W. Blennerhassett, J.P., for twenty years manager of Hallenstein Bros.' Wanganui branch, died in that town yesterday. A Dunedin telegram l'eeords the. death, from cancer, of the Rev. W. D. Nicholson.
The death occurred on Tuesday night of Mr 6. P. Wilson, draughtsman in the Land and Survey' Department at Wellington. The Rev. T. H. Sprott yesterday signified his acceptance of the bishopric of Wellington. Mi- R. R. Armstrong has been appointed sub-enumerator for the collecion of the census for Carterton borough. Mr A. H. Herbert, of Eketahuna, was a visitor to Masterton yesterday. Ho states that it is his intention of entering upon his election campaign shortly with vigour. Mr R. McKenzic, who is one of the Wellington Provincial representative competitors at the New Zealand Championship Athletic meeting, leaves Masterton for Ohristchurch this morning. Ho will compete iii the two hurdle events and in the hop-step-and-jump.
