MANAWATU A. AND P. ASSOCIATION.
AN UNSATISFACTORY POSITION
In seconding the motion for the adoption of the annual report of the Manawatu A, and P. Association, the Treasurer (Mr J. M. Johnston) said an important stage in ..he history of the Association had heen reached. Under the perfect weather conditions that had prevailed a record year had been anticipated, but while this was realised for the ..winter show the spring show receipts only showed an increase of £B9 compared to the previous year. Spring show results were disappointing, being £IBO behind the record : .year of 1906, and only exceeding the takings of three years during the past ten, namely, 1903 by £25, 1908 by £lll, and 1909 by £24 (wet show). .Also extended privileges to members had failed to increase the membership, the decrease still continuing. Mr Douglas, secretary of the Hawke's Bay association, had "increased its membership last year by ■ something like '£4oo. He was confi- " dent * hundreds "if' properly approached would avail themselves of the privileges. A table otf receipts from 1906 showed constant decreases from that year, except .for a small increase in 1908. In conclusion MiJohnston said 1 that wn-ie the Association was in a sound financial position, it Avas time that some means were adopted either to increase their income or reduce the expenditure.
