The New * Zealand Loan and Mer-? cantile Agency Company, Ltd., report at the annual sale~of settlers at. at the Upper Opaki yesterday, that entries..canie well up to . ti<>ri.s, both as- regards number ,'jand. quality of stock, our catalogue. embracing all classes. - The attendance was large and. representative, and bonafide. purchasers! - were present prepared :to do business. The . sale : opened-iduil, . vendors not quite realising the general state of the market, but as the sale proceeded matters improved, and Owners meeting purchasers by reducing reserves, good business resulted, and with two exceptions <a total clearance was effected.* The follow wing are the prices realised: — Good sound breeding ewes, 9s to 10s; medium class, 7s 6di to 8s; .poorer sorts, 5s to 6s 6d ; ; 2-tootli ewes, lis. In wethers, the class offered were on the small side, making. 10s. to 10s 6d. shorn lambs, 6s. to 7s; LiiiVola rams, £2 2s; aged Lincolns,' £gn. tofgn; aged Romneys and Leicester's, 7s 6d.' In cattle, a nice well bred line of 3yr heifers made £4 2s; 18-month steers, 61s; . cows and calves, £4 55.. ,
