CHRJSTCHURCH, Last Night.

Thei cricket; match, between . Southland and for the possession of . the Lord Hawke Cup, was concluded to-day, and resulted in a • win; for Southland by eight wickets. Rangitikei, who only scored 74 in their first innings to their opponents 345. played a fine up-hill game, and tfieir second innings closed with a total of 351, to'which 6. Marshall (nob: out) contributed 166, G. F. Hill 53, and B. Signall 38. Southland, in their second innings, scored the necessary runs to win with a loss of two wickets, the two not out batsmen, L. Poole and D. C. Hamilton, scoring respectively 40 and 29. The total for the two wickets was 34. Southland thus wins the Cup.

A match between teams represent- - ing St. Matthew's Club' and the;com- r bined Masterton and Mauriceville juniors, wil! be played on "the Park Oval on Saturday afternoon next. All. members of St. Matthew's teams desiring a place should coirtmunicate with the club's secretary, Mr P. Crosbie.
