WHARF LABOURERS' STRIKE.

SYDNEY, March 14
The wharf labourers' strike was declared "off' at> late hour; this afternoon, the men's demands having been Conceded. The men declined to work for the remainder of the day, and operations have been suspended until the morning- . The. demands granted were an m r crease in pay from 7s 6d to 8s per day of. eight hours } anfl-an increase of Is to Is 6d per hour for overtime. The men have been restless for an increase since a fortnight ago, when one of their number was killed. Tliey have used this-as an argument of the danger of working, the electric capstans which replace the shunting engines.
BROKEN HILL STRIKE,
A VOTE REVERSED

All the strikers" and .non-Unionists at Broken Hill, who are engine drivers and firemen, at a meeting decided by a show of hands to adopt drastic measures unless one of. the drivers who was dismissed was re-instated. An amendment in favour of a secret ballot was afterwards carried. ' The. ballot was taken, and resulted- in a reversal of the open'vote.
