Wairarapa Age MORNING DAILY. TUESDAY, MARCH 14, 1911. ANOTHER KNYVETT.

New Plymouth, besides, 'bubbling with petroleum springs, is effervescing with excitement over a military matter which bids fair to rival, the Karyvett case at Auckland. It appears that, after six months' .suspension, Captain Mills, of that township, has been "reprimanded" for having complained' at a junior being promoted over him. In the course of an interview, Captain Mills said: —"I forwarded, on Aiugust 22nd last, a, .statement of a grievance, in that a junior officer had been pr<yimoted over me, and requested an enquiry; also to be supplied with a copy ;of any report, statement, or fact that had been furnished in connection with the case. To this I have not had any reply, not even an acknowledgement, and although I have subsequently asked for, information as to the date that the grievance was forwarded to the officer concerned, I have as yet.been kept ignorant. In. my career as a volunteer I have not spared myself for the good of the service in nil branches, always a.t my post and available when I felt that I cotdd be of value; and getting such—what I consider—an insult, not only to myself, but to the fine body of men thai I have had the honour to command and {rain, is almost without comparison in this. our.time of peace, T^e'; are here during our time of activity for the welfare of the nation, and, quite willing to put all personal matters aside, but I feel sure that the present result of the Board of Enquiry is not oonducive of She iota, of good. I should' 6o like my grievance enquired into by unbiassed persons. All I desire is to leave the service with full honour—not to have a junior put over me without just explan-ationt-oif even' to quit witK a single

reprimand tacked oh' to one's discharge, and I hope that my appeal may be heard at an early date, &o that I may, without much delay, forward my resignation and feel assured that I am posted on the retire ed last with all honour, and not ovoi.» the shadow of a black, mark."
