WAIRARAPA CALEDONIAN SOCIETY.

MEETING OF DIRECTORS,

The monthly meeting of members of the above was held in the Dominion Hall on Saturday last, at 2.30 p.m., there being present Messrs .1. B. McKenzie (chairman), E. H. Waddington, James Miller, D. McLachlan, Thos. Wyeth, E. E. Chamberlain, R. Cameron, and A. McLeod. A deal of correspondence was read from the secretary of the Wairarapa Centre of the N.Z. Athletic Unioii. The secretary entered a H strong protest at being required to conduct so much., unnecessary,, corespondence outsido the legitimate duties coiir nected with the Society. The Directors.upheld . the secretary's • .protest, and decided that the correspondence in connection with the appeal by E. W. Miller be 'laid on the table. x Ini connection with the matter of •cyclists competing in 'the ■ bicycle races without paying registration fees, it was decided to inform the Athletic Union that the bicycle events were district races, and were .conducted strictly- in accordance with Rule 17. which provides that no registration shall be required, therefore no further action be taken.

It was decided to donate the first prize for the best .Scotch song to the Musical and Elocutionary Competitions Society for the commencing- on July 11th, such prize not to exceed £2 2s.

,The secretary reported having written-to the secretary of the Pipe Band, and received a reply on March Ist to the effect that the Directors and members had resolved to, hand over the balance of the funds to the Caledonian Society, so as to enable it to comply Avith Mr Buchanan's offer; but .so .far nothing further had been done in the matter, except that Mr Talmtea.u, the secretary, had reported to him verbally that ho had been unable to obtain the signature 01 Mr Pickett, the treasurer, hence the delay.

It was decided that as this matter had been hanging lire- for the past four years, the following Pipe Band Committee be appointed', with full poT'iM- io act. viz., Messrs. A. Mcleod, '•/.' H. I'alrlius, '.J. B. Mckenzie, G. .R. SykcS', Gordon Stewart, George and .John McHattie, and E. H. Waddihgton, three to form a quorum. One new member was elected.

It was decided that the next meeting of Directors bo held on April Bth.
