HAWKE'S BAY LAND BOARD.

[ NAPIER, Last Night. | To-day a somewhat unusual \ case i came before the Hawke's Bay land Board. A transferee in his declaration stated that his capital was £IB,OOO. The members pf the Board" were, quiet unprepared for : so, wealthy, an applicant, and suggested that' there must be some mistake, that the amount should be £IBOO. However, the applicant ttas called, and confirmed, the statement. Then there arose a curious position, it being discovered that the transferee was in possession of more capital than the law allowed such applicants to have. It was suggested that the transferee, whose misfortune it .was t<) own-£lß,ooo.'should consult a solicitor with: a view to making a .fresh declaration. The land he pro;.pbsed- woVild , be .greatly; of the to lay out, and he appeared 'to, be-tbc. : very' kind, of hitler w&o- does" much good on the land.
