; CALCUTTA, March 6. . Sir Louis Dane, Lieutenant-Gover-nor of the Punjab, in a speech at Lahore, strongly denounced intemperance in the Centra] Punjab. Intemperance, he said, involved in : common ruin both prince . and peasant, the educated and the uneducated.! It was largely attributable to the increased prosperity of the landlords and labourers.
