MASTERTON RACING CLUB.
MEETING OF STEWARDS. . The monthly meeting of the.stewards' of the Masterton Racing Club was nek 1 in the office of the secretary (Mr A.. J. Hatha way), on Saturday afternoon last, there being present—Messrs C. F> Vallance ((chairman), C; A. Pownall, R. Buick,.W. Cooper,' J. Macara, F. E. J. lorns, W. lorns,'l>, ] McLachlan, -C. J. Bennett; G. H.Yates, A. G. Pilmer and A. J. Welch, j An apology for absence was received from Mr J. B. Moodie. The secretary of" the New Zealand Racing Conference wrote stating that, the resolution, removing the disqualification from two jockeys had been forwarded to the Metropolitan body; Another letter from the secretary of the conference asked thß Club to nominate two delegates for the Metropolitan Committee.—The Chairman and Mr Bidwill were nominated. The Minister, of Internal Affairs forwarded a tptalisator' permit. - A communication was received from the Minister of Railways, stating/that "a train from , Masterton to Opaki would be run on both days of the races, leaving Masterton at 12.15 p.m:, and a train would return to Masterton, leaving Opaki at 6.5 p.m. - Messrs J. B. Moodie and C. J. Bennett wrote, accepting the positions of stewards of the club. J. Wyeth wrote, asking if the Club would accept an offer for the privilege of taking the gate;-hThe stewards de r ; cided to retain the gate. It was also decided that ladies be charged for. admission to the inclosure only. A. McMekeri wrote, inquiring what arrangements were being made for the catering, and asking i;o bevinformed of the date if the privilege was to be sold by auction.—The secretary was instrueted to • make arrangements with Mr J. C. Alpass on the same line as last year. A letter was received from Pryor Gilbert, asking permission to sell race books.—Permission was granted. Two new members were elected. Mr Pownall moved "that with the exception of owners and trainers who shall receive free passes at the discretion of the secretary, complimentary tickets may be issued by the secretary (other than luncheon tickets) to any person not residing in Masterton or. within a radius of seven miles." ! The motion, was seconded by Mr ; lorns, and carried.
