AMUSEMENTS.
MISS AMY CASTLES,
Referring to Miss Amy Castles, a Dunedin contemporary says: —When Miss.Castles came here in 1902 she was but a girl, her, voice immature. Her visit with the.' opera company seven months ago, gave her only one opportunity, and that to sing in the rhymeless and unmeasured "Madame Butterfly" music. The present visit leaves her free to display her vocal ability and her musical knowledge in standard songs that the world's artists adopt as tests; hence we are now in a position to give judgment in full concerning her, and last night's audience seemed to be thoroughly delighted, not only with her voico, but with her methods. There was no hesitation about.the Verdict even so early in the concert as the "Traviata" aria, and it was confirmed by performances that followed.
