THE "CONTINUOUS" MINISTRY.

j The opinion expressed by Mr James | Allen, M.±-., that the present (government is *'worked, out," is shared by a considerable section of the community. The evils, of a "continuous Ministry" have been emphasized in a marked manner during the past few years, and the people are sighing for relief from the intolerable burden which attaches to professional politics. Mr Allen, speaking in the South the other day, said,: —"The Government have been, in office for twenty years. They have worked'- out the policy they once had. They 'ignore Parliament They- seek about: for a policy . wherever, they can get one. It is very dangerous to have a Ministry with no clear 'ideas about policy. There is this further ['danger; they won't stand to tneir j guns; they run away. They ran away l twice over the., hand Bill, over . xiie Knyvett.; case, over tlie Auckland Government House, over the Auckland University, and over half a dozen other matters during the last session. It is a very dangerous thing to" get responsible Ministers who won't stand- to their guns. They have a disease called 'Taihoa.':' ~ '
