JOHNSONVILLE STOCK SALE

JOHNSONVILLE, Lust Night, Messrs Abraham and Williams* Ltd., report on their Johnsonville sale as follows: —We offered a good entry of bullocks and a fair one o| sheep, which sold well at late rates. . Heavy bullocks, £9 17s 6d to £lO 7s 6d; medium bullocks, £S 7s Gd to £8 15s; light vealers, 17s;.prime heavy wethers, 17s Gel ; good wethers, 18s 6d ; medium ewes, 12s 9d to 13s; plain; ewes, lis Gd; good lambs", lis 3d to 12s; plain, 9s lOd to 10s Gd; plain shorn, 8s 9d to 9s 7d. PAHIATUA SHEEP FAIR. Messrs Abraham and Williams, ; Ltd., report on their Paliiatua Fair as follows: —We offered about 10,000 sheep to a very large' attendance of buyers, Manawatu, Wairarapa, Feilding and the Waikato being wellrepresented. Bidding was spirited all : through the sale, and practically the whole of the entry changed hands under the hammer at prices, in most cases, in advance of vendors expectations. / There were several lines of | particularly good quality 4 and 5-year ewes,.for which there was keen competition, Mr Mark Caselberg's line topping the market at 13s 2cL As.' a number of our clients coujd not bring i, their sheep forward owing to scarcity of water for dipping, we are,holding another fair on. the 14th inst., for which we have already a large entry. Quotations: —2-tooth ewes, 12s Gd to 14s 9d, poorer sorts 9s 6d to 10s 9d; 2 and 1-tooth ewes, 15s, medium 4tooth ewes 14s; 2-tootli wethers, 10s sd, 10s 6d; 10s 9d, lis; 4 and 5-year ewes on account of Mr M. Caselberg, 13s 2d?j4 and 5-year ewes on account Mr N. Mitchell, 13s; others, 9s 3d, 9s 9d, 10s, 10s 4d, ,10s lid, lis and lis 8d; 5-year ewes, 4s to 6s 9d; woolly lambs, Gs 3d, shorn lambs, 5s to 5s Gd. ■' MASTERTON STOCK SALE. The New Zealand Loan and Mer- | cantil'e Agency Co., Ltd., report at their weekly sale at the Solway yards - yesterday as follows:—We submitted a catalogue of over 3000 sheep, 50 rams, and 50 head of cattle. Included in the list of sheep were some good,lines in each class all these sorts meeting with a ready sale-'at good-val- .■•! ues. A large proportion of the entries were of an inferior type, and , 'were difficult to quit, unless yendors met the purchasers at reduced rates, and at the close of the day five, pens out of thirty-five offered remained unsold. There, was a good enquiry for rams, the whole lot being cleared. In cattle the entries were confined to store cows, young cattle and calves. We made a sale of all cows offering, hiit young cattle failed to reach owners reserves, jates being'much lower"-' than those ruling in the spring. In wethers we sold a line of extra good 2-tooth on account of Mr Donald McLachlan, the price obtained,. 12s lid, y being the top price of late sales; for other vendors, 2-tooth lis, and 10s 3d for small; 2-tooth ewes, according to quality, 10s 9d to 12s. In breeding ewes nothing special offered, and prices ■ were fairly low in consequence. Sound moutlis, 7s 9d to 9s 9d; poor sorts 6s to.Ss. In lambs, woolly made from. 7s to Ss 6d; shorn s ss9d to 7s.' A pen of good fat ewes made 14s. Rams, according to'age and quality, lgn to '3gns. The entry of sheep was principally of full mouth ewes and cull, jambs, which as above stated wereiall keenly sought after. The entry of cattle was small, but all lots that came forward changed hands well up to, late rates. AVe quote as follows: — Show lambs, 7s lOd, 8s 4d to Bs. lid; poorer sorts, 5s 4d, 6s 2d, 6s 6d to 7s 4d, cull lambs, 8s Bd, 3s 10d, 4s to 4s 3d; full mouth ewes, 9s Bd, 9s lOd, 10s 10s 6d to 10s 93; low conditioned f.m. ewes, 7s 2d to 9s 4dy cull and old ewes, 4s, 4s 2d to 5s lOd; 2 and 4-tooth ewes, lis Gd to 13s 2d; 2-tooth ewes, lis lOd, 12s 4d, 12s lOd to 13s 9d; 2, 4 and 6-tooth ewes, 9s 9d to lis Gd; fat ewes, 12s 6d,-13s to 14s 3d; fat wethers, 14s 6d to 15s 2d.
