CARNEGIE'S PEACE OFFERING.
Commenting on Mr Carnegie's gift of two million's to hasten ths abolition of international war, the London Times isays :: —' "Mankind; is once more Mr 'Carnegie's debtor, arid to a very large amount. , His actioiu in handing" over to a board of trustees the princely,sum' of two millions sterling, the" revenue of which is to be used 'to hasten the aibolition of international war' and establish a lasting world'® peace,, will, if the object lie has'TtT view can ever be" attained], entitle 'Mm. ito- the universal'■ and everlasting 'gratitude' of' all .humanity. ~ Even now; long before 'his object'is likely to;be-at-tained, every man 'of goodwill throughout the world will accord heartfelt sympathy and respect to Mi' Carnegie in his noble-minded endeavour to bring 'peace on-'-earth; and goodwill toward men.' "
