TE WHARAU
Tins district lias boon well favoured this summer in respect "of rainfall, while other parts of the country have been suffering severely from drought. The country on this side of the Maungarakis has never been looking better, and the abundance of feed is evidenced by the splendid appearance of stock generally. The following team will represont Te Wharau Rifle Club at the Greytown and Trentham shooting meetingsMessrs R. Barrer. Erie, Geo. and Reg. Vermeil, and W. Kummer. This team has won the Teams' Match at Greytown for the past two years, and are confident of repeating their past performances. The deer-stalking season will soon be'opening, and already enthusiasts are preparing for this exciting branch of sport, notwithstanding the report that numerous settlers in this district have decided to refuse permission to stalkers to shoot on'thair various properties. Mr Opie, County Engineer, visited this district this week. A large amount of money has been' spent on road repairing and road making about here during this summer, and soon it will bo possible to travel right from the Coast-to Masterton over metalled roads. The proposal to build a light-house on the reef at Flat Point has evidently been shelved., as lately nothing has been heard of the matter.
