The Meteorological Office this evening issued ;the following siimmary arid forecast:- ',; The barometer has fallen every r where.■ ■■' Cloudy and unsettled weather _has been experienced generally,. and 'rain is reported in the far north. Northerly and easterly winds have prevailed and increased "in force, especially in the northern districts.
Present indications are for northerly winds,' strong tojieayy gale, in the far north, >andi veering.' and increasing elsewhere shortly. Heavy rairi is probable in,the northern districts,'• with rivers rising in these parts. A storm area appears to be approaching from the northward and unsettled weather is _likely,to extend.over the country, with rain following in many parts.,. A falling barometer is probable, especially in the north.
