MASTERTON LADIES' SWIMMING CARNIVAL.
A SUCCESSFUL GATHERING
The aquatic carnival held in the Christina and Alice baths in .Masterton yesterday in connection with t>jie Masterton Ladies' Swimming Club proved an unqualified success. The weather was delightfully fine, and there was a very large attendance of ladies. Music was. provided ,by Mr H. Jims' orchestra, and afternoon tea was supplied by a ladies' committee. Messrs n.. Snowball, Gillies, Fryor, and Crosbie acted as judges, starters, and time-keepers, j The secretary of the Club (Miss K. O'Leary) and the officials of the ] Cub worked hard during the day, I and everything passed off without a hitch. The swimming events, taken altogether, were'a distinct -improvement- on those, of last year, and some of the performances (notably those .of Miss Annie O'Leary) were really brilliant. In an interval in the programme Mr A. Snowhall gave an exhibition of trick swimming, diving, etc., for which he was loudly applauded. At the conclusion of the sports, the prizes won during the day were presented by the President of the Club (Mrs -.. R. Cook).
