DISTRICT NEWS.
(From Our Own Correspondents.) CARTERTON Tlie public swimming baths were officially opened yesterday arcernoon, when a carnival was held. The weather was ideal for the purpose, and there was a very satisfactory attendant, ail appearing to enjoy the outing. His Worship the Mayor (Mr J. A. Dudson) performed the opening ceremony.
Yesterday afternoon a number of the Carterton Rifles attended *he Belvedere butts to put in shooting practice in accordance with the regulations.
The Borough f staff is at present engaged constructing a concrete kerbing along the northern end of High Street, from Rhodes Street downwards.
I' understand that Mr W. Robinson, well-known in the district, is shortly to commence here as a bootmaker, having secured premises at the northern end of the town.'
