MASTERTON HOMING CLUB.

YOUNG BIRD MATCH.

A young bird race was Cown under the auspices of the Masterton Homing Pigeon Club from the Summit yesterday afternoon. The air-line distance is thirty miles. Ninety birds, representing fifteen lofts, competed, and the vaco was a very close one. The birds were liberated a't 1 o'clock, in perfect weather, and the winner arrived home at about 1.4.5 o'clock. The result was as follows : R. Person's ; "Tip-top," velocity 14.06- yards per minute, 1; W. Hoar's "Sky-scraper," velocity 1399 yards per minute, 2; J. Dixon's "Fidl Rate," velocity 1389 yards per minute, 3.
