CHRISTCHURCH DROWNING CASE

CHRISTCHURCH, Last Night
At the inquest on the body of Mr Alexander Forbes Orr, one witness .stated that when the canoe was got ashore, Mr Orr's body was found lying in a prone position/with his feet under the thwarts, and his hands clasped.. The appearance of the body led the witnesses to believe that deceased had a 'seizure of some kind and was dead before he could have been drowned. He appeared to witness to have gone to sleep. There was a current where the canoe was found, and a bank of weeds, and probably the canoe struck the hank and overturned. The constable who took charge of the body stated that there were no indications that the deceased was not sober. A verdict was returned thatdeceas'ecLaccidentally met , his death by drowning. . , . '
