News has been received at Dunedfn of the death on the Gold Coast of South Africa of Mr Alex. Gun ion. 'formerly of Alexandra. He w.as killed by the natives. ,
At St, Mark's Church, Wellington, on the 21st. the wedding was celebrated of Mr Robert Hare, eldest son of Mr C. J. Hare, of Greytown, formerly of.the Greytov i Post Office staff, but now of Wangr- ui, to Miss Josephine, youngest daii"' I \ter of Mr J. Kiltninster, Glenbervie Road. Wellington. The ceremonv was performed by the Rev.. A. M. Jolmsou.
Another of Wellington's early settlors passed away on Wednesday evening at his Lancaster Street, Karori, in the person of Mr Wra, Feeney. The late Mr Feeney was horn sixty years ago in County Meath, Ireland, and came to New Kealand when quite a young man.
Mrs and Miss Hourignn, who are leaving Masterton to take up their residence in Wellington, were entertained last evening by a. number of friends at the residence St / Mrs Donovan, Hall Street, and presented with a case of silver serviette rings.
Mr W. H. Bennett, who has been bailiff at the Masterton Magistrate's Court for the last six or seven years, has received the appointment of clerk of the. Court at Collingwood. in the Nelson district. The friends of MiBennett will be pleased to hear of his veil-earned promotion.
Mr William Golder, eldest son, of Mr Henry Golder, -of Jtfpper Plain, Mast'rton, was, yesterday, married to Miss ,I'milie Bowyer, only daughter of Mr ■T. Bowyer. of Nireaha, in the Knox Church. The bride, who was given' away by her father, was prettily attired in white satin.' Mr A, Golder was best man. and Miss Alice Golder attended the bride in the capacity of bridesmaid. The ceremony was eonducted by the Rev. A. T. Thompson. Timothy McFaddn, who was accidentally killed at Mi- F. E. Perry's Maranui, near Martinborough/, on Sunday, was a man, of about 45 years pf age. He had been working in the district for some time, having been employed on Otaraia and other statious in the % district as a ; labourer. Mr Perry has ' communicated with Fortrosei Southland, at which place some of the deceased's relatives are supposed, to rev side. It is not known whether lie was a married or a single man.
