LABOUR PROBLEMS.

(Received February 22, S a.m.)

LONDON, February 21. Mr Sinclair, one of the Scottish Agricultural Commissioners, who recontly visited Australia, was. interviewed on arrival at Plymouth. He spoke enthusiastically regarding Australia's prospects. His* opinion was that Australia was the saddest" country he had ever seen, having regard to the labour problems confronting the Commonwealth. He had never heard bitterer expressions used by employees to employers, and vice versa, than in Australia. The solution of the labour question could, in his opinion, only be reached by increased population. Mr Barber, another commissioner, said irrigation and artesian boring would render droughts much less serious. He predicted a very promising future for Australia.
