The bachelors of Kakariki gave a return ball to the ladies of the district on Friday evening in the school room. .The-affair was commented upon', by every one present as the most successful dance, ever held in the district. Visitors were present from Haniua, Hukanui, Nireaha, A tea, Mangahao, and Mas-t-erton. Amongst the Masterton visitors I noticed the Misses Hogg and Compton. Music was supplied by Ml J. Valuable assistance was also rendered by these ladies to the bachelors with regard tb'tlve catering. "Home, sweet home" was reached by the majority at 3 a.m. The JVlisses Hogg and Compton were guests of Mr aiid Mrs Dawson during their visit. ,
