NEW ZEALAND CONTINGENT

CHRISTCHURCH, Last Night. As there are so many applications j from members of the Dominion de-j fence forces to form a voluntary contingent, each paying ;his own expenses, the Government has decided to allow a contingent to be sent under the following conditions: — # (1) Each member to find his own passage by any route to and from England., "(2) -Supply his own uniform. (3) To report to the High, Cpmmis."siorier in Londc-n during the first week in June at the latest, earlier if ;. possible. '".:.•"', , ' (4) No pay will be granted. . (5) To be under military law while acting as a contingent. (6) Applications must bef made through officer commanding the district, who will report oh same "arid forward to headquarters. A letter of recommendation' to the High Commissioner will then be forwarded. A copy will also be sent to the applicant.-

* (7) Twenty pounds (£2O) will be granted as an allowance for uniform and equipment, payable in London by the High Commissioner, no other charges against the Government to,be incurred. This allowance is, however, limited to sixty members only. Fifteen can, therefore, be recommended from this district. -
