WOOL, SHEEPSKINS, HIDES AND ' TALLOW SALE. The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Company, Ltd., report as followjs:— The usual sale was held cm Friday, and was well attended by buyers representing operators in both Islands. There was a large accumulation of produce, as no sale has been held since 20th January. Prices for wool, skins, and tallow were well up to last sale, and heavy hides brought extreme prices. We quote : Wool.— Crossbred ; fieece 6d to B£d; pieces and bellies, 2£d to 4<l; dead wool, inferior, 5d to 5Ad; locks, 2jd. Sheepskins.— Crossbred medium, 6d to 6:} d.; crossbred coarse, to s£d; crossbred dead, 43d. to ssd; cross'bred hoggets, dead, 4d .to 4^-d; broken and faulty skins,. Id to 4d; pelts, salted, is oa <to 2s 7d each; pelts, salted and damaged, 2d to Is each. Hides.— Ox heavy and ox medium, none offered;. cow and light ox, 43d "to 6|d; faulty hides', IJd to 4*d; calf sound, 7|d' to B£d; calf, damaged, 2d to 6£d; bull hides, 4d to 5Jd. Tallow.— In tins 24s 6d to 25s 6d per cwt.
Messrs Abraham and Williams, Ltd., report as follows:—:Wq ; offered a fair catalogue to a large attendance of buyers. Skins were firm at last sales' rates, whilst hides were firm at an advance. Skins.— Our catalogue comprised mostly rough station skins. Crossbred full wools, 6£d to 6Jd; half wools, o-i-d to 6d; dead, 4k'l to 53d: short and inferior, 23d to 4Ad. Butchers' Pelts.— Bare, 2s to 2s sd; short woolled, 2s 6d ito 2s lid; woolly, 3s to 3s sd; 'heavy lambs, 2s lid to 3s '2d; medium, 2s 6d to 2s 10d; small, 2s to 2s sd. Hides.— Heavy ox stout, B}d; medium ox, 7fd to. 73d r . light ox, 6sd to 6jd; light to. medium cows, 6Jd to 6gd; damaged; cow, 4-} dto ■ 5Jd; yearlings, 6cl to 6|d; beet calf, 7|d to BJd; medium calf, 7d to 7£; damto 6id. Tallow.— In tins, 23s 6d to 24s 9d.
Messrs Levin and Company, Ltd., report:— "We held our .fortnightly sale to-day, when we offered a siriall quantity of wool,' and a large catalogue containing 2300 sheepskins, 500 hides and calfskins, and a quantity of tallow and horsehair. Wool.—Only fadges and bags were offered,, which sold at full current rates* The next wool sale wall be held on 3rd March. , Skhis.r— Good competition, hut prices somewhat easier. We quote.—Halfbreds, 7sd to 7|d; line crossbreds, 7£d to 7Jd; medium crossbreds, 6d to 6fd; coarse crossbreds, 6di to 6£d; dead skins, 5-J-d to dead hoggets, 5d to s*d; quarter to half wools, . 42d to ,sd ;- dry pelts,: Is to Is 7d; green pelts,..2s to- 3s ; lamb skins', 2s to 3s 2d; lambs pelts, 6d to Is 4d. Tallow.— .Higher-. Parcels in shippr ing order, £29 10s; tins, £24 to £26; rough fat £2O ito £24 ss. Horsehair.— Is to Is B|d per lb. Horns—--5s to 16s 3d }>er hundred. Cowtails —ls 6d per dozen. Hides. —We presented a good catalogue which met with good competition. Prices for heavies were a halfpenny firmer. Lights, cuts and inferior were easier I>y a halfpenny. We quote.— Ox hides, heavy, 7d to 7fd; ox hides;. medium, 6|d to 7£d; ox hides, light, 6Jd to '6.J-d; cow hides, 6d to 6Jd; cut and slippy hides, 3d to s|d; stag hides, 4<l to 5Jd; bull hides, 4d to 5Jd; yearlings, 6d to 6|d; calf best, 8d to B£d; calf medium, 7d to 7£d; calf cut and slippy, 4Jd to 6d. Our next sale will be held on Friday, 10th' March, 1911.

from their London office under date 15th inst.: — Tallow. —We quote present spot values for the following descriptions: Good mutton, £1 16s 6d; good beef, £1 16s; mixed, £1 14s 3d. Market quiet. • Wheat.— Sold at 34s 6d c.i.f. Australian cargo. Very little demand. Outlook discouraging. Oaits.— Cartons, 18s 3d; Sparrowbills, 17s 6d. Market quiet but steady.
Messrs Dalgety aim Company, Limited, have received the following cabled information from their London office under date of 16th inst. ; Frozen' Meat Market very dull. Lamb is -Jd to lower except Canterbury. . Any change in prices is likely to be in favour, of buyers. Mutton is l-16d lower. Beef.— No demand owing to heavy supplies chilled. Tallow.— Prices in general are par to 3d cwt. lower. Decline is chiefly on qualities low and inferior grades. Buyers are holding back'expecting to do Better latex on.
