JOHNSON-JEFFRIES PICTURES.

TOWN HALL, TO-NIGHT. Considerable interest is being manifested in the;first and only presentation in Masterton to-night of the great biograph— the living pictured representation of the famous Johnson-Jeff-ries battle. By special and costly arrangements the* ever, enterprising linn have" secured .4he. sole right for the Bormmon : of ,< sliib- , iting this-ft&w insto;ii?o! event,. the, reproductions of uhit-'Ji are now b'firig', given throughout New Zealand wjtli extraordinary success. This contest has been perpetuated in a Jtar'tlingly vivid manner by the wonder -working biograph, and will be re-enacted exactly as it was witnessed in Reno -in July last. No time or money has been spared in- itsrproduction, and it lm proved itself to be unique in the annals of pictorial entertainments. The incidents leading up to the contest, the" men preparing for the fray, scenes at Reno, and the fight itself, are all set forth in marvellous detail. It is not necessary to describe the fight—its multiple incidents are. "known—how Johnson played with the big blacksmith, who, with his great strength, was fondly expected to bug the black with the affection-of a grizzly bear; how one hug was to suffice; how the negro, with the greatest* of .ease, loosened Jeffries' hold in the clinches, and calmly.,forcedchls (Jeffries!) left arm behind him—not oncej but time and again; how that famous uppercut, which was the undoing of Burns in Sydney, was also the undoing of Jeffries—he sinks >to the ffoo>, and is counted out. All is seen clearly, sharp-, ly, and with stai'tling realism, and not a movement ,uor a blow is lost. It is a grea.t picture, and one richly, worth seeing. A delightful series of other living picture no'velties, entirely new, and the exclusive property of this management, will be added to the piece-de-resistance of the evening. ■ The box plan is open at Miss Rive's. Greytown will be visited to-morrow evening. . ■
