OF JUVENILE DEPRAVITY
By Telegraph—-Press, Association,
CHRTSTCHURCH, Last Night. During the hearing of a ease at the Juvenile Court on Saturday, it transpired that the mother .of an indigent child- (a single 'girl*of 21 years) was also mother of two other illegitimate children. * The Magistrate said the girl was evidently weak-willed, and if. she was not kept under control would continue to bring illegitimate, children into tl^e'workL ; Continuing, he said tliat no provision was made in the present law for dealing with such a case. Preperly speaking lie. should have power to order the girl to be placed where she would be under control; but. as'the .law stood at present there was ho opportunity of dealing:with her unless she could be charged with an offence: The girl, who, ovas;in a tearful state/ seemed much'attached to the infant, and was anxious that it should not be taken from her. She consented to go to the Samaritan Home, and after some fatherly advice had. been given her by the Magistrate, she was taken there. • *
