THE ANNEXATION PROPOSAL
FOREIGN TO THE LIBERALS

OTTAWA, February 18
It is understood that Sir Wilfrid Laurier intends clearing up his Party's attitude in regard to the annexation controversy. lit- is expected that he will make a statement denouncing the annexation idea as foreign to the Liberals of the Dominion.
Resentment is growing throughout the country against the Government. ;
Tho Union Jack wars ordered to ;be flown in all Canadian towns along the United States frontier, and at all-seaports. The Hon. W. Pugsley, Minister for Public Works, announced this order in the House of Commons during the Reciprocity Agreement debate. ' . ■".
WASHINGTON, February 17; The House Committee on Foreign Affairs, voted, . by : .-nine, to . i one, against .Mr. Bennett's. resolution, suggesting that negotiations -should be started with Great Britain for.the annexation of Canada.
