The friends of Mr J. Included in the cabled list, of ful candidates in the recent University examinations is the name of Mr Reginald R. Burridge, of the Victoria University College. He has passed the first section of his L.L.B. degree.

Mr and Mrs Sole, of-New Plymouth* who celebrated their diamond wedding ! last jveek, are uncle "and-aujit to Mr I Edwin Johhsbbv'of Mastertc-n. Sihj gularly enough, though both, uncle' j and nephew have been resident in the I Dominion for many years, neither has I yet met the other. .

A number of townspeople assembled at Mr W. H. Wilson's shop on Saturday morning and. (according to the Express) sprang a surprise upon Mr H.H. Marshall, who is leaving Mr Wilson's employ, by presenting him rath a sovereign case full of sovereigns. The Mayor, in §n appropriate speech, made the presentation. Mr T. Moss, chairman of the County--Coun-cil v and Mr W. M. Wilson also spoke. The recipient suitably responded.
